The OBDII system is a read-only device that connects to your vehicle's OBDII port (every car built after 1996 has an OBDII port). The system reads data from the vehicle and sends it in real-time to the Greenbox Virtual Dashboard. It feels like being at the wheel, even if you're not driving.
What data can the dongle read?
ALL OBDII VEHICLE TROUBLE CODES
ENGINE REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE
FUEL LEVEL
THROTTLE VALVE (ACCELERATION)
SPEED
ENGINE TEMPERATURE
IGNITION STATUS
AND MANY MORE
Why do you need this data?
MONITORING DRIVING HABITS
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
REMOTE DIAGNOSTICS
Does this system work with every vehicle?
The OBDII device only supports powered vehicles up to 12V.
Each device comes includes one year of service. You won't need to pay anything else.
After one year, if you wish to renew your subscription, you can do so by paying $30.00 per month (billed annually).
The renewal fee includes the SIM card costs (unlimited traffic) and the Greenbox Service App.
Yes, once you buy the device, it becomes a property of yours. You can remove it and dispose of it at your own will. You’ll never have to ask permission or notify us about what you’ll do with your device.
Yes. You need at least one device for each vehicle. You’ll be able to manage all of the devices from the same Greenbox account. That means that if you have 3 cars, you’ll see them all on the map at the same time. You’ll become the fleet manager of your own vehicle fleet.
Of course! Just unplug it from the old car and re-hook it into the new one. You won’t even have to tell us about it. The device is yours and you can use it on any vehicle you like.
No, no penalties, no hard feelings. You don’t have any obligation to us. You can cancel your subscription at any time, by yourself, with a click of a button.
No! There's no risk that this device will drain your vehicle battery, thanks to it's smart power saving features. The power consumptions can be go from an average of 6mAh to as low as 2mAh, meaning that it would take more than a year of inactivity to drain the battery.
Besides, this device will protect your car battery by continuously checking its health condition. Greenbox will warn you if your vehicle battery is running out before you'll be unable to start the engine.
You can install the Hybrid solution on vehicle powered up to 12V, which includes 95% of vehicles. If your vehicle is powered above 12V, you'll need theWIREDsolution.

GNSS is kind of like GPS, but better! "GNSS" stands for "Global Navigation Satellite System". The new GNSS processors allow the device to work faster and be much more precise than GPS.
GPS devices use the GPS satellite constellation for pinpointing their own position. There are 24 GPS satellites in total orbiting the globe. This is why a GPS device can get signals from only 12 satellites for each hemisphere.
You might have noticed that your GPS car navigation system can only connect to a maximum of 7 to 9 satellites at one time when you’re in the countryside and far from cities with tall buildings (we call cities like these "urban canyons"). In crowded cities with tall buildings and skyscrapers, GPS sometimes loses its signal and its precision is poor.
GNSS, uses multiple constellations of satellites, including GPS. Our devices use:
These are all constellations of positioning satellites like GPS.
As you see, GNSS relies on 116 satellites, much greater than just the 24.
Having a far greater number of satellites above our heads allows the device to be much more precise than just GPS.
The dongle only supports vehicles up to 12V. Some motorcycles may not have an OBDII port or may need an adapter to host our dongle.
OBDII is standard, and every car produced after 1996 will support the dongle. Although some parameters may be different on some vehicle models (depending on the vehicle manufacturer), all standard information can be read by the dongle.
If you wish to check which parameters can be read on your specific vehicle model, here follows a list with all OBDII protocols compatible with our dongle (support for 95% of cars).
In short, the answer to this question is yes. You can install this device in any rental or leased car unless in the leasing terms and conditions it is stated that you shouldn’t do so.
GPS and GNSS devices are very much like mobile phones. If you drive with two or even five smartphones in your pockets, they won't harm your vehicle in any way.
You can safely install this device in any vehicle, no matter which or how many different devices have already been installed.
In the event of a theft or a tampering attempt, you'll be able to call the police and provide your vehicle's position in real-time.
In most countries, if the police refuse to follow a stolen vehicle for which you can provide a real-time position, it is considered as "official inaction" and thus a crime.
Additionally, when you're able to provide your vehicle's current location, the police are motivated by the high chance of catching the thief!
We've seen this a million times. If you have a Ferrari and report a theft to the police, they'll file your report, and nobody will ever go and search for your car.
On the other hand, if you have any car, but you can provide its real-time location, you'll see that the police will react fast because they'll be motivated by the high chance of catching the thief.
Over 1.3 million people die every year because of road accidents.
Most of these deaths could be prevented if we act fast, sending help to the exact crash location.
If you receive a "crash detection" event, act as follows:
1. Call the driver. If he/she doesn't pick-up your call, go to step 2.
2. Call the emergency services.
3. Open your Greenbox App and provide the crash coordinates to the operator.
